Sound&Recording-Studioszene is cooperating with #TMT30

Launched by the magazine Sound&Recording, the Studioszene workshop is an initiative of the publisher Music-Media-Verlag and was introduced at the Tonmeistertagung 2016 in Cologne. It has since evolved and seen enhancements, and again is taking part as a Tonmeistertagung partner. Visitors can expect a diverse, hands-on workshop programme with many well-known recording industry personalities in a special area on the Boulevard, set aside within stand B-43.

Talk & More

Once again, the programme includes numerous workshops and presentations on the topics of recording, mixing and mastering by professional engineers and product specialists. In the opening talk, Hans-Martin Buff, who is also facilitating the programme for the first two days, and Marc Bohn, editor-in-chief of S&R, will discuss the fundamentals of 3D audio technology and concepts for its use in the future. In addition, Hans-Martin will use his latest production to demonstrate the practical implementation of 3D audio and answer questions about the subject.

Sound & Co.

Roger Roschnik, CEO of PSI Audio, at two separate lectures will discuss the topics Phase Control and Damping Ratio for Monitor Loudspeaker Systems as well as Correct Use of Acoustic Absorbers to Control Room Modes. Please note: Both lectures will be held in English!

Producer and sound engineer Julian David will hold a session to demonstrate the Townsend Labs Sphere L22 modelling microphone, which can emulate an entire arsenal of classic transducers. Tips and tricks will abound on how to make optimal use of this compelling hardware and software.

The future of production

A talk with Stefan Heger will address the future significance of digital portals and their relevance to engineers as well as upcoming changes in production processes. Besides the producer/artist relationship, the discussion will focus primarily on the necessity to talk about parameters, platforms and market alternatives.

Marc Bohn, editor-in-chief of Sound&Recording: ‘We are delighted to be present at this year’s Tonmeistertagung with Studioszene again. The workshop program on our stage on the Boulevard is the only one at the entire event which can be attended with an exhibition-only ticket, and yet it provides rich expertise and the opportunity to talk to leading audio industry figures.’

The full programme with all dates, including the Happy Hour with Sound&Recording authors Hans-Martin Buff and Dr Andreas Hau, is available from the program website of Tonmeistertagung as well as directly from Sound&Recording.
